pokémon go & other goings on

Unless you've been curled up under a cozy rock somewhere, I have no doubt that you've heard about Pokemon Go. It's everywhere; I've even seen driving advertisements telling me to no 'Pokemon Go and drive.' The craze has somewhat died down at this point, but I still pop on it every now again again, and I can't wait for the larger updates we've been promised. (I believe?) Join Team Mystic! :P

Here's a piece of art I posted on my DeviantArt earlier on (which can be found here!) I did the majority of a few months ago, but sort of lost motivation for it... I decided to finish it this evening, though it's not quite at cleanly done as I wanted it to be. There's some rough edges here and there, but I quite like how it came out! Even though I'm not the biggest Pokemon fan out there, it will still a fun project to practice my Illustrator skills with.

School is back in, and it's always slow to begin with, but I know the pace will quickly speed up as it always does. I'd love to maintain this blog so I can feel I've accomplished something outside of the school curriculum. Expect future updates (I sincerely hope!)

a couple of arty things

Not particularly good things - but a little bit of a study of colors and shapes. I've taken a liking to making patterns using Sharpie markers and just letting my mind go and create patterns when I'm feeling a lack of creativity.

Also, spring has sprung! I recently bought a few pastel colored Copic Sketch markers and I wanted to try them out in a spring theme. I'm not too pleased with how her arms came out... but I'm working to get better at basic anatomy!

hallow's eve has come and gone

Halloween, that spooky spooky (even spoopy) time of the year has passed already. I miss trick or treating (I could probably get away with it still, but even so...) but as someone who's recently become interested in cosplaying and costuming, it's always fun to see what people put on for the night!

Drew a young witch for fun.. I'm not too keen on the eyes, they look a bit lopsided. Eh, there's a lot of mistakes, but it was just a doodle really - I do like how the hat came out and the how the white ink on top turned out. I'd love to start drawing more. I'm taking a Digital Art Class at school, though we focus mainly on program skills rather than the actual care and emotion that goes into the art.

According to the rest of the world, it's now officially Christmas?? Yikes. Christmas movies are already on TV and the stores are stocking up... We've got Thanksgiving yet, and it was just Day of the Dead (or Dia de los Muertos) yesterday for many. Slow down, please! There's ages yet until Christmas; it's great to get into the spirit, but it is possible to start too early and wear out the feeling.

one more time; minecraft, part 1

The silence, in this case, was deafening.

Everything -- but seemingly nothing -- was a buzzing cacophony of sounds, ringing as though the hard ground beneath had just exploded, causing this everything to rumble from the impact. Everything was white, and then it was sketched upon fog, and then it was painted with exploding, almost blinding, colour.

And there I lay, head rested upon the thin bristles of green that only touched the edges of my peripheral, the rest of my vision being a shining cyan sky, only dusted with a tinge of soft orange -- it could be no later than early morning.

A sense of knowing crept dizzily into my head, and a frightening new feeling of confusion. But I certainly had no lack of excitement, despite the coldness of loss at the base of my being.

Who was I?

Where have I been?

What can I do?

Who can I become?

I almost dared to not move. The near pleasant feeling of nothingness was something I could easily have slipped into. I knew I had already lived, was there a need for me to walk that road once again? I wished so deeply I could know myself, and the name that graced my deeds, of good nature or quite possibly, of bad.

What do I need to know?

Can I find any answers?

Who have I left?

What have I left unfinished?

But upon sitting up, vision glazed and working hard to bring this new world into focus, this world was new, and could provide me nothing of the past. A place of dreams; or perhaps, that is what my last sense of living was. Sharp and so very apparent at first, and then slowing fading when reality finally hits.

I slowly lifted myself off the the floor, struggling at first to find my footing and to settle in a comfortable stance. Before me was my new everything, of near sweet nothingness. The landscape was clear of animal life, dotted with the occasional tree or flower, and spanned further than my fresh eyes could handle for the time being.

Taking my first step felt like an accomplishment; the first touch upon this new land. I hoped to take many more, for even if I had lived before, this was another chance, and I could not bare to waste it.

Odd little flower-thing doodle

I'll never be able to title things properly. Anyway, my mom went to a garden show yesterday. I've got a slight cold so I decided not to go myself, but she sent my dad and I a few photos, and for whatever reason they inspired me to try drawing a flower, which became leaves and a wooden frame, and somehow a person got put in there... yup.

Names kept popping into my head for the little girl there, though I can't seem to remember any of them from yesterday. Ah well - she gave me an excuse to try drawing floofy hair and little booties. Maybe she's a flower fairy of sorts, one without wings?... no idea!

I'm not an artist but this was fun to do. Sorry about some of the odd pencil scratches and the non-ruler edged lines of the window frame. I wasn't too sure to put outside, so right now it's just a house on a hill. Maybe I'll finish it and try making it look nice one day. Maybe.
