and then there was wondercon 2016

Can't believe WonderCon was over three weeks ago now... yikes! My friend and I attended together (blue and purple wig!) on Day 2 over our Spring Break. I went as Undyne again... But I improved it quite a bit as I wasn't pleased with the wig or fins from my first shot at her. As expected, there were loads of Undertale cosplayers yet again. I was lucky enough to take some photos with them. :D


There were lots of other Undyne cosplayers, so it was always interesting to bump into someone who looked quite a bit like yourself! There was, of course, many really cool cosplayers from a multitude of fandoms... ack, I'd love to be back there now!

There was a big Undertale meetup in the afternoon. It was hard to fit everyone into the group photo! Goat mom Toriel kindly brought cookies for everyone to share.

I really hope to return to WonderCon next year! It's the largest convention I've ever been to, and the atmosphere was just fantastic. Thanks, WonderCon folks!

anime los angeles 2016

As it's been quite a while, I suppose an update on comic-con goings is in order! Yikes, this is quite late now...

I attended days 2 & 3 of Anime Los Angeles 2016! (Jan. 28-29) I've also been bit by the Undertale bug, and I cosplayed Undyne (and later "improved Undyne") at two conventions. Don't think I can match her personality well like others can... but she's a pretty cool fish lady so I'm satisfied.

Here's some photos of a few of the amazing Undertale cosplayers (and Portal!) that I saw whilst wondering around (bottom-left-blue-person may or may not be me...)


There was also a massive Undertale gathering. When I first saw the post on Facebook for, I supposed there couldn't be too many people attending; I was proven very wrong. It was so amazing to be surrounded by people were just as or even more passionate about it than I am!

There was a sea of Undertale cosplayers and it was beautiful.

Day 2 came around quickly and I decided to attend as Finland from Hetalia for the Hetalia gathering that day. It's always the best to see familar faces from con to con and gathering to gathering - there were lots of hugs and hellos!

Credit for the group photo goes to the creater of this Facebook page. There's also a rather embarrassing blurred photo of me falling (a Russia tried to pick me up) but it was totally a blast and I can't wait to see some of the same people again at Anime Expo this summer!

Conventions are always an adventure - and you think you know what to expect, but there's always something crazier and crazier happening at each and every one of them!

ac:nl summer is in full swing!

Here in Animal Crossing New Leaf, things have heated up once again for the summer. The pink and blue hydrangeas are blooming and the grass is a healthy shade of deep green. Make sure to pack away your coats and boots for a while (unless your town is notoriously rainy) and keep cool in the summer weather this year!

With a straw boater hat on my head and a summer dress from the Island, I 'frolicked' through the flowers outside and strolled through the green grass. A camp site is currently in construction, so I'll be visiting the Island at night to do some bug catching everyday to fund that project and others, as well as work on my flowers throughout the town.

I've always been pretty bad at flower breeding (I don't know, I just don't have the magic touch for it or something! I know how it works) but I've gladly been able to get a few so far in town. Carnations are by far my favorite flowers, though it's too bad they only come in three colors: pink, white, and red. But expect to see a lot of those popping up in the nearby months.

If you haven't already, I'd really appreciate if you visited my town using my Dream Address in the Dream Suite. I've only had two visitors so far and unfortunately Luna tells me that I can't view who it was. I'd love to check out your towns, too, so feel free to leave your Dream Addresses anywhere in the comments. I'd be happy to review/post about them too, so write that if you'd like me to as well!

Summer also means in a couple months, Ironsage will have its first year anniversary! I had a town before this one, made soon after the game's release, but I decided to restart as I hadn't put much care into it. I don't have the same amount of time + patience that some Animal Crossing players do to put into their town, but I'm trying to grow the town, with at least some plan. :P

animal crossing as of late!

For once, I've actually been productive in my town, Ironsage, beyond the normal daily motions. I was being too indecisive about public works projects; but hey, I can't just wait around forever trying to decide, so I just kind of went for it. Hooray for trying things as I go!



I completed my lighthouse after about a month, and I'm very happy with it's placement. (I need to start bug catching on the island again... I'm nearly broke!) I love the way it actually shines a beam at night, now there will be no more sailors getting lost on their way to town! It'd be really cool if you could go inside and do summer work in there, like on the GameCube, but it's also nice as just an aesthetic thing. I've also done a bit more path work... to be revealed when it's nearer completion.

Rodney unfortunately left just a couple of days ago, after being in the town since near the beginning - sad to see you go, buddy - but soon after, a lovely wolf named Skye moved in, just below where his house originally was. Funny, they both have the same color schemed houses... and another wolf alongside Whitney! She seems like a very kind wolf, and I'll be happy to get to know her soon. :)

It's been raining a lot within the game, and it's always to peaceful to play when it is. The music that plays is very relaxing; if only it could translate to rain in the real world too! I've been thinking of doing like a time lapse Animal crossing thing in certain areas of town, to see how it changes over time... I don't know, it seems silly, but I suppose I won't know until I try.

an old friend and new patterns!

It's been a while since I've truly picked up Animal Crossing besides going through the (sometimes quite grudgingly) daily chores, but today I had some free time after school to play for a while. To my surprise and happiness, I found out that Whitney had moved in! She was one of my favorite characters back in Wild World and City Folk; so welcome back, old friend!

I hope she stays a while. I've had some of my few likable villagers move out of my town simply because I couldn't catch when they 'pinged' for their moving date. Missing you, Blaire, but there's space to make some new villager friends now.

I also started to do some work in town, after I'd finally managed to unlock the QR code machine with my backup character, Desireé. So far I've implemented a brick path nearby my brick bridge and café, and a few flower patterns to help fill up some of the areas of town where flowers or bushes can't be planted. I don't know if I'm too keen on the brick pattern... I'll mull it over. :P These patterns are not mine, but I wish I had the talent to make them. I'm still trying to line all of my path ways with bushes, though as you can imagine, it's taking a while since you can only buy two bushes per day. Getting there, though! Lots of flowers to continue breeding too - though I'm terrible at planning out what flowers and needs, what's to go where, etc. etc. Still working on funding that lighthouse, too! Lots to do, lots to do...

April Fools & Bunny Day in Animal Crossing!

... in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, if you're one who likes to be specific. :P It's now April (and dang, I haven't posted in a long, long time) and that means, a few holidays have already been and gone! Although I didn't do a whole lot for either of them in the real world, there's always some fun to be had in the world of Animal Crossing. :D

On April Fools day, Blanca (in other games, she traveled from town to town and offered you the chance to draw on her face, but her role has changed quite a bit since) pretends to be one of your villagers at a time as a joke, and you have to guess which is her (or the "fake" villager) and who is your real towns-mate. It's quite stressful for them to have an impostor, so give them a hand!

The guessing is based on certain facts about your villager, which you can pick up after talking to them for many months. Things like what sibling they are out of so many, their birthday, their catchphrase, etc. I couldn't remember anything... so I'll admit, a little bit of cheating to go look the answers went on in my town. If you guess correctly, they'll give you their picture - which are worth hecka loads of points for the HRA! More info can be found here. :)

Then there was Easter - or Bunny Day, as it is called within the AC world - where you have to collect eggs each year to give to Zipper T. Bunny (who's all too enthusiastic about his job)! You can collect these eggs in multiple ways, resulting in different types. For example, you can eggs from digging, hitting rocks, shooting them out of balloons in the sky, etc.

 I wasn't too keen on spending hours on finding the eggs as I didn't particularly want all of the egg furniture, just Zipper's Pic, so I found as many as I could through digging, breaking rocks, and shaking trees and managed to get three of them! I got myself stung by bees in the process, but I suppose it was worth my while. There's more info on Bunny Day here. :)

Ooh, it's... me? Made From Paper!

Finals are finally over! Thankfully, I've passed all of my classes... I'm surprised about passing one of those. It's been a very busy week (when isn't it?) but on Wednesday, to relax after taking two long tests and before starting to prep for the ones on Thursday, I decided to do some paper crafting.

I've seen people make these for their Minecraft characters, and I stumbled across the website that allows you to generate them with your player's skin: pixelpapercraft.com. You can see where I accidentally got water on her hair, woops - no idea how I managed that. The photos aren't brilliant either, they always look better on the camera's screen.

 My character looks nothing at all like me in real life, but in video games I've always just kind of stuck with vibrant orange/red hair and blue eyes of some sort. For now she's going to stay perched on my desk, sat along with Mr. Squid here.

I finally got some writing done, woop woop! I rewrote some scrap writing I found amongst my email drafts from a long time ago, but I've most certainly improved from a couple years ago. Until I can get a full on story whirring in my head, I'm just practicing by writing little short stories, or scenes. Mostly descriptive things, since that's what I enjoy most, but they're not always interesting for others to read.

It's a four day weekend here due to finals, as a "semester break" so I've still got the rest of today and tomorrow to relax. It feels too formal to have a proper sign-off or goodbye, though, especially since I'm basically writing this for myself to read again a while from now. Ah, well, goodbye? Goodbye for now!

A New World

I opened my eyes, and I was born again. All the words I knew had been stolen from my lips; a sensation of knowing everything yet nothing at all swept over me. I’m sure this is what amnesia patients must feel like like, at first. I knew I had a past, and I knew I had planned my future, but all I could ever remember knowing was the time I was stuck in now.

All I could hear was my own humming breaths, edged with a sense of panic. But I felt relaxed. There was nothing to fear. The world before me was empty. No, it wasn’t really empty: I just had yet to discover what filled it. I began to walk, and then I began to run.

Color slowly filtered into my vision, and I could see the the color of fresh grass and the leaves on the trees, shaded by the gentle heat of a summer afternoon. Each time I stepped, the dirt pushed back, filling the air with a soft scent of mud and rain soaked pebbles, feet chopping through the countless blades of grass sprouting within it.

I soon made it to riverbank, which was lined with sand, dusted a hue of gold. I peered over the water before me, to see a gentle ripple erupt across it, where what I supposed had been a fish, had dashed away at my sight. Within it, I could see the remnants of once great stones, now reduced to a jagged family of dark rocks. Oddly, I could not see my own reflection.

Maybe I did not exist, or maybe I had yet to. It would've been nice to see myself again, to regain some sense of familiarity in this great world of the unknown. I had yet to create my own existence upon these new lands.

Welcome, 2015!

Happy New Year! Last night, just before the clock struck midnight in-game, I spent some time in my dad's Animal Crossing town. We bought some commemorative hats from Redd (Only 300 bells... that's surprisingly cheap from this guy) and armed ourselves with party poppers.

The countdown began, and boom - the new year had begun! We set off our poppers and cheered along with the animals at the fireworks lighting up the sky. Isabelle was happy as always, and she offered us some apple cider to celebrate this brand new year!

In real life, (his AC town was an hour off, oops!) we watched the ball drop in Times Square - Taylor Swift's performance before that was a nice surprise for me! My parents and I welcomed the new year with a few cheers and some soda. Though we're not as celebrating as crazy as some people, it was nice being just the three of us.

I've got hundreds of resolutions throughout my mind, but I'll start one step at a time... I'd like to begin to improve my knowledge of Latin and maybe start learning some Japanese. That'll take some hard work, though -- those are the only goals I can think of from the top of my head.
