comic convention goings!

Apologies for the lack of posts over the past few weeks - As I'm in the UK, it's been difficult having access to my old laptop. But there's a lot of catching up to do, and part of that is that I've attended my first two comic conventions!

The first one was the London Film & Comic Con, which was on the 22nd through the 24th of July. It was filled to the brim with people, and when I say that, sometimes you could barely move. I was lucky enough to be able to attend on both the Friday and Saturday. It was exciting to see so many cosplayers, film stars, and just people passionate about something 'geeky' like myself!

I was dressed in my APH Finland cosplay for the first day, and it was dissappointing to find that there was no one else in any other Hetalia cosplays, but it didn't spoil the event! There were people dressed as minions, superheroes, even a Splatoon Inkling! My only true dislike is that it felt somewhat disorganized - it was a little bit difficult to find where things were (elevators were tricky to get through, since so many people wanted in/out!) and programs were five pounds each.

And secondly, I went to MCM Manchester which went on from the 25th to the 26th of July. I was only able to attend for the Sunday, but even just for the day it was a blast. I stayed the entire duration of the day, watched the cosplay masquerade as well as one of the old Doctor Who actors in the theater.

I also felt this was more tailored to my own interests. There were lots of amazing artists and I admittedly purchased a couple of prints. There was also a whole lot more anime content in stalls and such. However the best part of all, for me, was actually meeting some fellow Hetalia cosplayers!

All of them were super nice and I was so happy to meet people with similar interests! Although I don't live anywhere near close, I hope you a few of you have fun in the local cosplay group!

Overall, MCM Manchester felt quite a bit more organized to LFCC. It might not have been quite as expansive (less dealers, less things to do) but in a way that almost made it feel easier, since there was always enough staff to manage anything that was happening.

I hope to attend many more conventions in the future (if time and money permits!). I intend on going to one with a friend just after school starts, so there'll be a post on that popping up soon. I hope to put together at least one more Hetalia cosplay (Norway maybe??) and then go on from there. I might even attempt learning how to sew and make my own costume... I'm not too sure how that would work out. :P
