making some colorful cupcakes!

A few days ago, I ended up making some rather fanciful cupcakes with my grandmother. It's been really hot here, but the heat has finally died down a bit over the last few days, so we took the opportunity to put the oven on and bake some cakes!

We used a fairly simple recipe that didn't require you to separate your wet ingredients from the dry - at least, I think that's how it works usually... I don't bake often - and they came out surprisingly tasty and moist. Our decorating skills are questionable, but our store-bought tubes of pink and green icing actually tasted decent and weren't too hard to apply, like you think they'd be.

Also, butterfly sprinkles: what a cupcake clearly always needs. As I was running out of ideas to pattern the cupcakes with, I started breaking apart their wings to make triangular pieces. I thought my grandma's cake place was quite pretty (and helped to hide some of the imperfections!)
